I think you’re really pretty
like Christmas lights on a winter afternoon,
and I keep thinking I might love you,
but saying that out loud might be too soon.
Since that,
I just think you’re really pretty,
really funny,
really smart.
If the most famous gallery hung a picture of you,
it would outshine all the other art.
That’s what I would say at least,
because I think you’re really kind.
It would be the most glorious of holidays
to spend even just a second in your mind.
Because I think you’re really pretty,
and your beauty is a fact—
the softness of your cadence,
the way that you act.
And I keep thinking you’re really pretty
because I don’t have the right words to say.
You’re the leaves in October,
and I’m—
I’m just a thought of yours on holiday.
But the idea of us is really pretty;
